Trip Leader: Holly Goulding
If you remember back to the gloriously sunny days of last weekend, a small group of ACC members headed out in the Fraser Chutes area on March 2 to find some turns, and get a tan! Our group of 7 started from the gravel pit behind Canada Customs, and shed layer after layer as we skied up the road toward Fraser Lake.
We climbed onto the bench and slopes at the northeast end of the lake and did a few laps on the upper slopes before dropping into a lower gully to ski out. Good sun + good turns + good company = smiles all around.

Summit Creek Hill Backcountry Ski (February 25, 2012)
Trip Leader: Claude Vallier
What a day! Absolutely no clouds in the sky, light winds (to keep the bugs away, as Claude said), and a warm sun. This was the first backcountry ski trip for ACC Yukon and it was great. 8 members skinned up Summit Creek Hill in the White Pass on some mellow terrain.
On the way up, Claude gave some basic instructions on how to avoid avalanche terrain and how to do a basic kick turn on skis. For a beginner, kick turns aren't as easy as Claude makes them look!
After a great run down the hill we stopped for lunch in the sun. Since the weather was so awesome, we decided to do a second run and got some more fantastic turns in.

Caribou Mountain Hike (January 7, 2012)
Trip Leader: Marko Marjanovic
6 members headed out on a windy, overcast day to hike Caribou Mountain. Above the trees, the wind was so strong that it was hard to stand up! On the ridge, the group made the decision that we push on to the summit, despite the high winds.
On the way to the top, the clouds suddenly broke and blue sky appeared, something we never would have thought would happen. We had a quick lunch break at the summit and congratulated everyone on the first ACC Yukon trip ever!
