ACC Yukon Ski Mountaineering Skill Development Camp

Join the ACC Yukon on a remote alpine camp in the White Pass Region. The skill development camp will be hosted by 2 ACMG/IFMGA guides through Skookum Backcountry Adventures.

Participants must come fully self sufficient to camp for the period April 4- April 9, 2016. The camp will be remote and all gear will be hauled in with a snow machine. A common area heated tent will be provided for socializing and group instruction. There will be a full camp kitchen kit for use by participants.

The terrain in the area offers mellow glaciers to steep couloirs. With two certified guides, the group will have the opportunity to split into two groups each day based on ability levels and personal goals. Most days will include glacier travel.

The camp will appeal to experienced skiers and split boarders who are cool with black diamond runs at a resort. You will require all your own gear and there will be glacier travel rope use, ski crampon use as part of the trip. AST training or equivalent years of backcountry experience are needed.

The camp will provide a learning environment with instruction from 2 ACMG/IFMGA guides. A  pre-meeting will be held in late January to discuss equipment and rescue techniques.

The cost will depend on the number of participants. With 4 the cost will be $1,300 and with the maximum of 8 the cost will be $1,100. Cost includes guiding and instruction, full use of large, heated basecamp tent and kitchen, and snowmobile assisted access and egress.
