TRIP SUMMARY: MONTANA MOUNTAIN OVERNIGHT

On Saturday and Sunday August 24/25, a group of 7 ACC Yukon members hiked into what threatened to be a stormy weekend. We headed up the Sam McGee (Mountain Hero) trail up to the plateau and around the south side of Montana Mountain to the cirque of lakes surrounded by Dail, Matheson, and Montana Peaks. We arrived to Aurora Mine? area and camped next to the stone buildings. This area is a potential for a hut location that ACC Yukon is in discussions with CTFN currently. The area was beautiful, the weather cooperated wonderfully, and the group was a pleasure.

     The history of the area is amazing with the tram line and multiple very old mine sites, and the beauty of the area is unsurpassed. We had a great weekend and look forward to heading up there again. Thanks to all for a great weekend! Here are some pics:
